Hazlitt is not in this article but Sen is.

The basic foundations of the article do represent Hazlitt's view well though and Roderick Long's analysis is lucid.

cool, im definitely not jacksonian like mead. and im not CFR, lol, im sure you didn't know that! (see http://www.lewrockwell.com/rothbard/rothbard66.html, you can find reference to the CFR later in the article.)

Nock has a good book on jefferson, "Mr Jefferson", might help to provide some balance. or just check out any of Ron Paul's books, definitely no jacksonian either.

Yeah, i like hearing what chomsky has to say. here's a smidgen of correspondence between my brother and chomsky
http://www.medialens.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2692
(we will see if he responds again.)

Have you ever read Amartya Sen's book, Development as Freedom ? I wonder how similar Sen and Hazlitt's worldviews are? I read one of the chapters for a class I took over the summer. It talked about how to avoid famines, by instituting food distribution plans and providing temporary government work to those most affected. (that's a very, very concise overview, fyi.)

I'm reading God and Gold: The Making of the Modern World by Walter Russell Mead, right now. He talks a lot about the history of financing, central banks, and loans from the perspective of the U.S. and Britain, in addition to adressing the influence of religion and Anglo-Saxon idealism.

I read Chomsky's Hegemony or Survival last month. I am considering picking up the squeal, Failed States. Chomsky is refreshingly blunt about America's Empire-like behavior. He basically says we aren't much different than any other Empire.

The Post American World by Fareed Zakaria is another decent read, especially if you're looking for an opinion on the making of the 21st century global order from an optimistic, globalization apologist perspective,
